Into The Mystery

March, 2018 A year ago I embarked on a new chapter in my life. The Beatles sang about “when I’m 64” in their younger years, viewing this age as if life might be all downhill from here. Will it be “Yours sincerely wasting away” or “Doing the garden, digging the weeds”?

Wine and Art

June, 2016. Wine and art go hand in hand, so I was thrilled to be invited by vintners Woody and Catherine of Catriona Cellars, to show my paintings there this summer! I hope all our friends in Colorado and those visiting will stop into their winery. The building is actually the old original jail house dating back into the 1800's, and they've taken care to retain much of its authenticity, in the quaint little old downtown of Monument, between Denver and Colorado Springs.

I'm Asking...?

Most people I know have pretty pictures on their walls. Some even have art on their walls; original pieces that tell stories and evoke thought and emotion. I receive a lot of encouraging remarks about my art from friends. And I've even sold some art to people who were willing to give me the ultimate compliment: that of buying my art. And let me tell you, I hang onto every word and gesture of encouragement. Thank you so very much, if you have been one of those friends! But to be honest, I very rarely actually sell a piece. So, I’m asking the question, and hoping for some honest answers.

Happy Birthday, Dad

17 December, 2014

Tomorrow, if my dad was still alive, we would have celebrated his 91st birthday! He's been gone from this earthly realm for over 4 years now, and still I find myself hearing his voice, seeing pictures of him around the house, and saying outloud, "Dad, I can't believe you're gone!" Dad lived large. Mainly because he lived for others. It seems like in this day and age we're pretty self-absorbed, and we give honor to this.

Transitions

So sorry I didn't get this posted last week. Life has been racing by! Facebook asks the status question: "What have you been up to?"Well, the simple answer is "moving". Moving from Denmark to Colorado, and moving my mother into assisted living, up in South Dakota. I really do hate moving. I would much rather be playing... ie, painting.  Yesterday evening I was in awe as the moon was coming up. Since 1982 we've lived at sea level; here at 7000-ft. elevation I don't think I'd ever seen such a huge, bright, beautiful moon! I went out and snapped a few pictures.

Why I Don't Do Resolutions

January 4, 2014. A year ago I wrote in my blog about not doing resolutions. Today it's interesting for me to look back on my thoughts about the upcoming year of 2013. I was at a very weak point a year ago. I’m thankful my body has recovered, and there have been some incredibly wonderful memories made in 2013, our last year in Copenhagen. I'm thankful for the personal growth, and my wonderful husband who has encouraged me each step.

Winter Bathing and Copenhagen Yellow

November 18, 2013. Yesterday at my open house I met some people I’d never met before, as some of my guests brought friends and spouses. I loved all the conversations. One Danish friend asked if we have any other Danish friends. I think he expected that, being an expat, I must live in an expat ghetto where we just get together, drink cappuccinos and sitesee. Hmmm. Just then some more Danish guests arrived.
